There are some trees that don’t shed their leaves in Autumn as is expected.

They hold on through winter and right when everything else is starting to bud and turn green at the start of Spring, they go orange.

And within a matter of weeks go completely bare, are reborn and bloom with new leaves again.

On their own timeline. In their own cycle.

Who they are, regardless of where they are.Dividing-Line

About the look:

Whilst in Ubud, Bali May 2014, my lovely friend Louise took us for a drive up to the rice paddies. We relaxed in the lush green serenity of the place. On our way out I spotted a little roadside shop with many beautiful crochet works. The sweet lady there let me look around and try things…looking for a treasured souvenir to take home from this place. There were belts, bags, throws, little halter tops, jewellery. Each piece lovingly and painstakingly crafted taking hours and days to create. The level of handiwork and craftsmanship all around Bali is truly beautiful and the techniques well-preserved. I would have happily expected to pay a lot more for this dress. But after the currency conversion it was just $30, a real bargain for this detailed work. A similar one can be found on Andi Bagus webstore.

The little red leather bracelet is one of my favourites to wear every Autumn. It’s from Nisolo. Nisolo creates quality, elegantly designed shoes and accessories made by remarkably talented craftsmen of Peru. It is a fashion label that committed first and foremost to ethical production and the wellbeing of its producers.

The gold bird neckpiece I got from Sydney’s rocks markets a few years back, and wear frequently. The stall that sells them is still there at the markets.

I took these photos in winter in Brisbane where it’s still warm enough to wear a short dress in the day! It’s perfect for this changing of the seasons.
