On my return to Brisbane, the sweet smell of Jasmine, my favourite flower was all around, floating through the warm summer nights. Beauty is fleeting and now there are just a few of these left until they bloom again. Even in March, it still definitely feels like summer, even at 7am with golden light and hard shadows. And shady evenings under palm trees on the balcony shared with mozzies watching the day fade and the stars light up the sky.

As part of simplifying and streamlining my life this month, I’ve being doing a wardrobe revamp. I’ve been following the process of “10 Step Wardrobe Revamp” on Into Mind blog by Anushka Rees, and discovering my personal signature style with her fun articles and exercises.

These cool cotton Tree of Life pieces have been perfect for catching up with friends. The Blouse features Chikan embroidery, which is a traditional embroidery style from Lucknow, India. It is ‘believed to have been introduced by Nur Jehan, the wife of Mughal emperor Jahangir’. (Wikipedia) This style of embroidered fabric always reminds me of clothing my mum, aunt and grandmother would wear in India in warm weather.

Global Love is a mindset that Tree of Life takes seriously. For over 20 years, the majority of Tree of Life’s products have been supplied by the same two Indian run family businesses, headed by women.

Blouse and Flare Pant: Tree of Life, Cap: Accessorize, Sandals: Vintage Sportsgirl, Watch: Olivia Burton, Jewellery: A gift from my dad from a boutique in Turino Italy.

Photographed by Priya Puri.
